Roche Diagnostics
As the number one company in the in vitro diagnostics industry, our pioneering innovations set the standard.
At Roche Diagnostics, approximately 20,000 people work on the broadest product range in the diagnostics industry. We invest heavily in long-term research and development programs aimed at creating new diagnostic and therapeutic options for the many health problems facing mankind, including transplantation.
Every day people visit their doctor or are admitted to hospitals and clinics with diseases that need to be identified and monitored by a variety of special tests. Each of these visits and each of these hospital stays mean that thousands of specimens are sent to hospital laboratories every day for analysis. Very often, the technological advances behind these essential tests come from Roche Diagnostics. Most laboratories around the world use at least one of our products or technologies.
Prior to the introduction of specific immunosuppressive drugs, one-year renal allograft survival rates was ~50%, and now approaches 90%. However, the pharmacokinetic variability of patients on the immunosuppressant regiments, drug-to-drug interaction and a drug’s narrow therapeutic dose might require regular monitoring of drugs in blood. Diagnostic results in conjunction with the patient’s medical history and biochemical examination can assist doctors in optimizing the therapy by maintaining drug levels that maintain efficacy while reducing toxicity.
Our activities are primarily in areas where patients can benefit from individualized therapies based on adequate monitoring and treatment. Assays related to transplantation include:
- Cardiac panel (ie, troponin T, D-Dimer, and proBNP)
- Infectious disease panel (ie, hepatitis assays, HIV and CMV)
- Kidney function panel
- Liver function panel
- Specific Proteins (ie, CRP and HbA1c)
- Therapeutic drug monitoring (ie, immunosuppressive drug levels)
- Tumor Markers
Our broad spectrum of products, analytical equipments, and data management systems provide reliable results and precise information helping patients to improve their quality of life. For information about our products, please visit our home page: www.roche-diagnostics.com
